Final Technical Notes on Software R2D for the P800

The P800, being such an open ended and versatile phone, reversely might suffer from certain technical issues. And with its numerous programs and applications, it can sometimes be hard to discover which technical issues have been solved by the new software upgrade. To try and prevent further confusion and provide an easy reference, here's the breakdown of the R2D software for the P800:

Individual SW versions:

  • Phone SW - R2D
  • Bluetooth SW - R5A
  • PDA SW - R2A16

Certain issues with sms has been fixed. Incoming sms alert signal doesn't stop ringing even after opening the message. This problem has been solved in R2D. Along with that, now you're able to view the contact name of an updated phone book entry, a problem that was present in the older software where updated name entries were not reflected in the sms, "from". R2D also adds a new feature called SMS Acknowledge Receipt.

On the compatability side, the P800 is now compatible with the HPR-20 radio. Bluetooth compatability includes better communication with the HBH-20.

Problems with infra red transfer has also been solved. Now you can beam your files from you PC to the P800 and vice versa. A known ir transfer issue that many users faced.

P800 now supports iMelody 1.0 and 1.1.

When the system uses the function "Add to contacts" the P800 will store the actual/called/incoming phone number as "Phone Work". This has been changed and stored as "Mobile Work" thus gives the customer the possibility to directly use it as a default number i.e. send SMS.

Lastly, bluetooth works fine now with operational mode on and discoverable.
